The Gildan 5000 Heavy Cotton T-Shirt is a classic-fit blank with 5.3 oz./yd² fabric and a traditional rib crewneck. Use it as a starting point when you want a heavier cotton tee than the lighter Gildan 64000. Check the selected color before planning decoration: several heather, antique and safety shades contain polyester rather than the cotton construction used for the base style.

  • 5.3 oz./yd² (US), 8.8 oz./L yd (CA); base fabric: 100% U.S. cotton, 20 singles.
  • Blackberry, Dark Heather, Graphite Heather, Heather Colors, Lilac, Midnight, Neon Colors, Safety Colors, Sunset and Tweed: 50/50 cotton/polyester.
  • Antique colors and Sport Grey: 90/10 cotton/polyester; Ash Grey: 99/1 cotton/polyester.
  • Classic fit, classic-width rib collar and taped neck and shoulders.
  • Tear-away label. Natural is undyed; visible specks are cotton fibers and seeds.

The 5000 is 5.3 oz./yd² with a classic fit; the 64000 is 4.5 oz./yd² with a modern classic fit and ring-spun cotton base fabric. Compare both styles’ garment measurements rather than assuming the same letter size will fit identically.

What should I check before a screen-printing order?
Confirm the exact color’s fiber blend, then approve a sample with your intended ink and cure process. A result approved on a cotton solid should be rechecked before switching to a polyester-containing shade.
